The Wabanaki Alliance is expanding its staff, hiring four Voter Empowerment Coordinators to lead voter registration, education, and get out the vote efforts within the Houlton Band of Malisseet Indians, Mi’kmaq Nation, Penobscot Nation, and Sipayik communities for the November 2022 election. The new Digital Content Manager will manage the Alliance’s social media accounts, coordinate the organization’s web-based and social media presence across platforms, and create compelling visual and written content. Digital Content Manager

Do you excel in creating dynamic and inspiring communications? The Wabanaki Alliance seeks a part-time individual to begin immediately to fill its Digital Content Manager position. The person holding this position will be responsible for managing the Wabanaki Alliance social media accounts (Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter), coordinating the organization’s web-based and social media presence across platforms, creating compelling visual and written content, and working with Wabanaki Alliance staff, consultants, board, and volunteers to develop, finalize, and distribute content. The Digital Content Manager also coordinates and supports the Wabanaki Alliance Tribal Coalition Communications/Digital Team.
Successful applicants will have knowledge of Wabanaki communities and their contemporary work to achieve recognition of their inherent sovereignty, skill at conveying sometimes complex and rapidly changing information, thrive working in a non-office environment, and ability to work a flexible schedule with some evening and weekend work. Duties are performed under general rather than specific instruction.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

    • Strong organizational, written, and verbal skills; a persuasive and passionate communicator with excellent interpersonal skills
    • Adept at managing a variety of social media and web-based platforms
    • Demonstrated graphic design abilities with Canva, Adobe, or other design software experience
    • Collaboratively develop new content and strategies for advocacy and public engagement initiatives
    • Facility managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines
    • Ability to work independently with little instruction
    • Strong work ethic
    • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality
    • Dedication to a collaborative and positive work environment

VOTER EMPOWERMENT COORDINATOR

The Wabanaki Alliance seeks full time individuals to work as soon as qualified candidates can begin through November 30, 2022 to fill Voter Empowerment Coordinators working in and around four Wabanaki home community areas. Voter Empowerment Coordinators will create enhanced lists of eligible voters within their assigned work areas, conduct voter registration and voter education efforts, and lead a get out the vote effort for the November 2022 general election. People hired will also be responsible for record creation and archiving to enhance future election-year efforts.
Successful applicants will have in-depth knowledge of the Wabanaki communities in which they will work, aptitude for community organizing, skill at conveying information to people with varying life experiences and formal education, thrive working in a non-office environment, and ability to work a flexible schedule with some evening and weekend work. Duties are performed under general rather than specific instruction. Applicants must be computer literate.

QUALIFICATIONS

    • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, or software equivalents

Preferred:
