First Annual Wabanaki Nations State of the Youth

In partnership with the Boys and Girls Clubs of Border Towns and the Wabanaki Policy Youth Initiative, we were honored to help bring together the 1st Annual Wabanaki Nations State of the Youth.

Yesterday at the Penobscot Nation, our Wabanaki youth had the opportunity to engage with their Chiefs, legislators, and candidates for governor and US House and Senate on the future of our youth in the Dawnland. Throughout the day our young people asked questions about tribal leadership, brainstormed future bills that impact their communities, and spoke of their hopes for their nations. All five Tribal Chiefs were in attendance and youth from each of the Wabanaki nations were present. Our youth are our future and we are honored to uplift them.

We give many thanks to our WPYI youth leads, WPYI co-coordinators Sage Phillips and Kaya Lolar, Maine Environmental Education Association, John Neptune, Jon Solomon, the Wabanaki Chiefs, candidates, and lawmakers who helped make this day a success as well as the Penobscot Nation for hosting us!
